From freezing to sweating!

Burrrrr...Unlike a few days ago when frost was in the air, this morning was in the mid forties and the sun shining. Another great day for mountain travel.

    Running the irrigation equipment to
keep from freezing. Some of the campgrounds had their water shut off
for fear or freezing.
I'll wake up in the forties and sunny any day! The summit of Little Belt Mountains, in the Lewis & Clark National Forest, reaches 8,200 feet.  Near the top is the oldest ski area in Montana. It was created in 1936, then called King's Hills. "Them ain't no hills!" Later the name was changed to Showdown Montana. They have an average of 20 feet
of snow a year.

See the snowmobile tracks? I missed the picture of the day...a guy unloading his snowmobile off his trailer and...
 he was wearing shorts!
Evidence left behind for us to see into the lives of those that made their way before us. Not only was the little town of Neihart, MT an iron ore mining area; but also mined about 3 million dollars in sapphires. Today it is mainly a tourist town with year round
population of 51 people...
as of the 2010 census.

Mountains begin to fade into foothills...

  Foothills fade into prairies...
as far as the eye can see. These prairies will soon be golden wheat fields. Where we are camping tonight is part of... what is called the "Golden Triangle." It includes the area from Shelby (where we are) to Havre to Great Falls.  It is field after field of wheat. The average farm size is about 3,000 acres, covering over 13 million acres!

When I think of beautiful, golden wheat fields... this painting of Van Gogh says it all.  Shortly, the wheat fields of the "Golden Triangle" will be ready to be harvested again. A scythe won't touch this job!

Nice campground.  Besides having all the amenities of comfortable camping, we can use the pool and hot tub at the Comfort Inn!

Everyone has a different meaning of comfort. I had to take a picture of the motor home pulling this double decker trailer. On the top is a full size pontoon boat and on the bottom an extended cab truck.  I hope there are lots of gas stations along their route!

A nice view from our campsite to end the day.
