Curvy road to Wasilla

Sunshine this morning.  Not like the last time we were here.  It was so foggy as we made our 2,700 foot ascend to the top of Thompson’s pass in a mere 30 miles. Besides being so foggy, there was a bike race going on in the left lane coming down the mountain.  I thought it was so dangerous for everyone and just plain crazy!  So happy the skies were clear and no bikes were
on the road this morning.
We are heading to Homer; but since it is 533 miles of mountain driving, we’re stopping and camping at Wasilla. (home of Sarah Palin)  It’s a beautiful drive from Valdez to Wasilla, with more mountains, glaciers, rock formations, valleys and rivers to enjoy. I took a photo of a closer shot of evidence of an avalanche.

The Alaskan Highway wasn’t as bad as the other day. However, there were sections under construction and other sections that should have been.  It was a very curvy highway, no matter if you were going up or down in elevation.  Maybe this smashed car was left on the side of the highway to remind everyone to slow down and pay attention.   I was feeling a little car sick with the side to side motion so long.
Glad to be sitting still in the motor home
 now and relaxing.
