Can you believe this? I had to take a picture so you could see how deep the snow is, even in May. See the mini avalanches on the right? There was a sign warning of avalanches and to keep your distance from vehicles in front of you and not to stop. Glad to get out of that area.
We have stood here many times admiring this scenic wonder of the Upper Falls of Yellowstone....years ago with our nephew Chip when a 6 point earthquake moved the ground beneath our feet, with our three children as they were growing up, learning to appreciate nature, with our friends as we snowmobiled the park, and now Bill and I as retirees with the time to stand there, as long as we choose,
to enjoy it's true beauty.
There were buffalo all over the place....in the fields, by the streams, and on "our" road. We were surprised to see so many baby calves born already. They rather walk on the roads instead of in the deep snow. In Yellowstone they "do" own the roads and you have to be patient and hope that they mosey out of the way.
Our day ended with finding a campground in Idaho Falls in Idaho. The sun is still shining and nothing could ruin the day.......until we turned the corner to go into the campground and a cupboard door opened....a 16oz can of Metamucil fell out of the cupboard onto the floor. Yes...of course the lid came off and the powder spilled all over the floor. Washing a floor was not on my list today! I guess it wasn't a "regular"day...............
(get it? "regular"..."Metamucil?")
