Heading west to Bellingham, WA to board the ferry for a 3-day coastal trip to Haines, Alaska. Taking our time because we board on May 20th. A little hard walking out of the house this morning knowing that we would not be back until sometime in July. It was a happy/sad moment as we took our last glimpses. Bill thoughts I'm sure were...what did I forget and my thoughts were....ohhh I'm not going to see my tulips bloom. On the other hand, we were both excited to start our adventure to Alaska.
The price of gas when we left Tomah was $3.99 and was able to find a great deal in Mitchell of $3.89 a gallon! Technology is wonderful these days...GPS devices even tell you how much money you spend on gas every inch of your trip. We laughed... just pulling out of the gas station the GPS showed us we already spent 5 cents. If you are reading this blog...you realize we have all of your addresses. Hopefully, we don't have to contact you to send money so we can buy gas to make it home :-)
Camping in Mitchell, South Dakota. If you have been there I'm sure you visited.....THE CORN PALACE! If you haven't been there...the whole front of the building is a mural made of corn cobs. We have viewed its splendor before; but did do a drive-by and at the stop light took a few pictures :-)...which I would insert but am have technology problems at the moment. That was the extent of sightseeing in Mitchell and we headed to the campground where we have electricity, water, cable, and "wi-fi" ...LIFE IS GOOD!
